SQUALENE Details
Chemical Name: SQUALENE OIL
CAS No.: 7683-64-9
Molecular Fomula:C30H50
Molecular weight: 410.72
Appearance: Light yellow oil
Assay:98%min
Typical Properties
Squalene Function:
Squalene belongs to the triterpene class of compounds. Oily liquid. After absorbing oxygen in the air, it turns into a viscous liquid similar to linseed oil. Melting point -38°C, boiling point 280°C (17 mmHg), specific gravity 0.8128 (15/4°C), refractive index 1.4965, UVChemicalbookλmax<226nm in cyclohexan. Easily soluble in ether, petroleu m ether, carbon tetrachlorid and other fat-soluble solvents, slightly soluble in ethanol and glacial acetic acid, and almost insoluble in water. Has a slightly pleasant smell. Decomposes during distillation under normal pressure. When placed in the air, it gradually absorbs oxygen and becomes resinous.
Squalene Usage:
(1) Squalene is used as a nutritional supplement to improve liver function and tissue activity. In order to prevent oxidation, it is usually used in conjunction with vitamin E.
(2) Used in the development of biochemistry and medicinal chemistry, as stationary liquid for chromatographic analysis, organic coloring materials, rubber, spices, surfactants, etc.
